Sheila Butt, a Republican state lawmaker who represents Columbia, said Thursday was a great day for her community. The county is in a remote area near the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, about three hours northwest of Redding, Ca.Īuthorities issued an Amber Alert for Thomas of Columbia, Tenn., after her parents reported her missing March 13. Siskiyou County Sheriff's Offices spokeswoman Kelly Giordano said earlier Thursday that Cummins' vehicle was found in their jurisdiction Wednesday night. ET press conference is scheduled in Nashville, the bureau later tweeted. The agency tweeted just before noon that Tad Cummins had been arrested and Elizabeth Thomas had been safely recovered. ![]() They found them today in northern California.Ī former high school teacher wanted in connection with the disappearance of a Tennessee teen has been arrested in northern California and the girl he kidnapped has been found safe, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Thursday. Even when she was rescued, she was too afraid to admit who she was, for several hours. But she was completely broken, from the moment he first assaulted her. Elizabeth Smart was dragged to parties, truck stops, grocery stores, all over. That is just what happens, read about essentially ANY kidnapping. I hope she is alive.Īnd for the person wondering about the victim being out in public, and acting normal. Instead, she has been taken away from everything she knows, had god knows what, done to her. She should be making happy memories with friends, family, and learning. I have witnessed the damage done to children who have been groomed by manipulative people like this, their reasoning is completely out of kilter, and that will affect them the rest of their lives. She is still considered a minor, in the eyes of the law, she is still a child. She is 15, how many 15 year olds are rational? Physiologically speaking, their brains are not developed enough to make well reasoned decisions. Threats of violence are especially good deterrents to victims, if the perpetrator has weapons (like his "multiple guns"), and has been manipulating her. ![]() Clickbait looking for hits on a case quickly going cold. Thus: the article posted is bogus, my original point. If they had evidence that she was forced, I'm pretty sure they would have released it or at least spoken to it. Realistically, the odds that he abducted her are very slim based on what we can see in the public. Whether or not legally it's an abduction has no bearing on that. The article suggests he was malicious, stalking, threatening, but her social media and behavior in those Walmart security shots would directly contradict that statement. Which is what we're doing right now: discussing the state of the investigation, where are they now, etc. I'm saying the legality doesn't enter into it when it comes to the investigation. I'm claiming the video of them in Walmart proves she wasn't abducted, and isn't being held against her will.
